"Syrian 'Poison Gas' Attack By Government Forces Claimed By Opposition"

Images from Syria have surfaced of lifeless children wrapped in what seem to be white body bags. The article says that the accused is said to be the Syrian government, who denies these claims by saying they are "absolutely baseless". The attack is said to have claimed from 136, to 1300 lives, with none of the bodies showing any signs of bruises, gunshot wounds, or blood. Almost all bodies seem to have died by a form of suffocation, and survivors are seen being taken away twitching, and with oxygen masks. The attack was on Wednesday, and other than the sound of guns, artillery and planes flying over head, clouds of gray smoke were seen over several towns. The White House calls chemical warfare "a red line" and that investigations occur for these allegations immediately. The fact that the Syrian government will go to such devastating lengths such as chemical warfare, this can pose a problem to many countries, the United States being one of them. These attacks killed women, children, and elderly, showing a complete lack of morality, and if these attacks can occur to their own citizens, nothing is stopping them from enacting this crime against other countries. If these accusations are investigated and found true, then this should be a warning to the U.S. and all other major countries. Nothing is considered immoral or too far anymore, and these events prove it. If this is to happen on a worldwide scale, then we should be prepared for the worst.
Kevin, these events are tragic but unfortunately real. The people who committed this crime should be accountable for this atrocity. This article brings the attention to what is actually happening in Syria. Unfortunately, people need to be aware that even though it is happening thousands of miles away to people in a foreign country, they still need to care. In the end, it will affect all of humanity. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteThese chemical attacks in Syria will never happen on a worldwide scale. The cruel deaths of these women children and elderly are absolutely devastating and immoral, but massacres such as these have took place in other Mediterranean nations. The government of Syria is currently in a civil war, fighting against gruesome men who have brutally killed many innocent Armenians, and the United States has failed to side with the lesser of these two evils.
ReplyDeleteIt is unfortunate how the political agenda of this administration, its forebears', and its successors' have shadowed the purpose and moral responsibility of entities that should be representing and protecting what is right. Only time can tell how the United States will approach this issue, but as time goes on it is very apparent which path is being taken; the immoral and wrong one. Congratulations on a such well-written summary Kevin.
ReplyDeleteThe chemical attacks in Syria are a truly terrifying event and it makes one genuinely question mankind and morality. The gruesome behavior of the assailants was portrayed amazingly in this blog post. Kevin is completely correct when stating predictions of future possible attacks on the United States. Horrific acts like these should not be experienced by anyone! Great job with explaining it all factually!
ReplyDeleteThese disastrous chemical attacks in Syria are terrifying. This makes people think about what the world has come to. Obviously the people that committed these acts had no sense of morality. Just hearing about innocent and helpless citizens being killed makes a person cringe. Not only were these innocent civilians murdered but they were murdered in such a way where it is horrific. Kevin, you have done a very good job explaining the tragedy in detail and being factually precise. This summary was very well written , great job Kevin!
